Oookay, looky there. The comic looks completely different.

First of all, I'd like to apologize for the quality of the scan today. I scanned the comic over at my parents' house and I guess there's something wonky with their scanner, so. Anyway, that's why it looks a little weird.

On to news about the new format! The more comics I drew, the more I realized that I was trying to fit two, three, even four people into a panel, and a template that was taller than it was wide really didn't lend itself to that. So I put together a new template, and I'm really hoping that it'll work out a little bit better.

If It doesn't, we may tweak things a little more until we get it right. We'll work it out eventually, though.

It occurs to me that this is probably the longest blog post I've ever written. I should stop before I go off on a tangent about maths or some kind of open source software.

...Touché. Although you do realize that "tangent" is a math term, right?

A belated but happy Mother's Day to any moms who happen to also be readers. I realize that those of the maternal persuasion aren't really in our core demographic, but still. I offer the sentiment out of hope that there are some of you.

So! Kent has run into someone familiar in his endeavors to get out and meet new people. What will come of this? Stay tuned! But seriously, I recommend that you lot strap yourselves in, as this particular storyline is going to pretty much occupy the next two weeks. I assure you, though, that there will be little actual tabletop action. There's far too much fun to be had in the realm of reality--however fluid that term may be when dealing with a comic strip.

Shelly looks good with her hair up. Just thought I'd say.

As it seems to be traditional, I shall now wax poetic about a new (or, rather, old) game I've discovered--and yes, it is open-source, as of about three years ago. The name of the game is MechCommander 2, a real-time strategy game set in the BattleTech universe. In MC 2, you play as the commander of a group of building-sized walking robots that run around blowing shit up and generally being awesome. Originally closed-source when released, it was made available for free by Microsoft to show off some bit of shiny coding or another.

A disk image of the game is available here by torrent or traditional download. In order to install the game you'll have to mount the disk image like a drive--for this, I recommend ISODisk. Start up ISODisk, choose the MC 2 ISO file to mount, then go check under My Computer--it ought to be sitting there pretty-as-you-please, just like an external drive.

Then, post-install, you can commence with the blowing-up of all manner of things. Always safely in-game, of course.
